Purandeswari Complained Against 22 IPS Officials, Including DGP

BJP state president and former union minister D. Purandeshwari has written a letter to the Chief Election Officer of the state and the Central Chief Election Commissioner seeking to keep away as many as 22 IPS officers in the state from election duties.

Detailing irregularities they have committed, officials she named include in-charge DGP Rajendranath Reddy, Intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu, Disaster Management DG PV Suneel Kumar, CID Additional DG Sanjay, Visakha Range DIG Vishal Gunni and Kurnool DIG Vijay Rao.

Already, the ECI acted against six of them and directed the state government to shift them immediately. They are Guntur DIG Paul Raj, SPs Ravi Shankar Reddy, Parameswar Reddy, Jashuva,  Anburajan and Tirumaleswar Reddy.

Referring to their proximity towards the ruling YCP leadership, Purandeswari alleged that they have expressed their devotion to the ruling party on several occasions through their words and deeds also. “We strongly feel that they should be removed from their present duties and kept away from election duties to ensure free and impartial elections” she added.

She sent her letter on March 26 to the Election Commission. She objected to the state government allowing Rajendranath Reddy to continue as in-charge DGP from February 2022, without sending a list of eligible officers to the UPSC for the appointment of regular DGP.

She alleged that DGP has been taking all measures to facilitate the ruling party to get services of `favorable’ police officers at all important positions. Moreover, she complained about the misuse of `Secret Reserve Fund’ and tried to bury evidence by destroying relevant files.

She accused that Intelligence DG PSR Anjaneyulu was responsible for preventing several opposition leaders at the Prime Minister’s recent public meeting by appointing `suitable’ police officers at key places. She also alleged that this officer has been mobilizing huge financial resources to manage elections and conduct surveys for the ruling party.

She said that he was responsible for the illegal arrest of several opposition leaders. Being intelligence chief for over three years he has been enjoying unlimited power in the government and threatening SPs and other police officers seeking favours to the ruling party, she added.

Purandeswari complained that CID chief Sanjay has been threatening several media houses, if they resort to give anti- government news stories.
