Protocol Row of Insulting Council Chairman Resolved After Minister Keshav Assured To Avoid In Future

The controversy over the insult to the Council Chairman has finally come to an end after the minister Payyavula Keshav admitted mistake and assured efforts will be made to avoid such incidents in future. On Friday, YSRCP MLCs protested in the Council that Council Chairman Moshen Raju was disrespected by not being invited to the Women’s Parliamentary Conference in Tirupati and the inauguration of the Whips’ Building in the Assembly premises.

On Saturday, YSRCP members protested in the Council wearing black scarves and displaying placards on the same issue. They demanded that the leader of both houses apologize for the insult to the Chairman. With this, Legislative Affairs Minister Payyavula Keshav clarified that the government had no intention of insulting the Chairman. The controversy ended when he said that he would ensure that such a mistake does not happen again.

As soon as the House began, YSRCP members came to the podium and demanded that the Leader of the House come and answer the insult to the Council Chairman. They shouted slogans demanding that the Chairman’s honor and constitutional rights be protected. “You have made your demand. Listen to what the minister says on behalf of the government,” the chairman suggested.

Minister Keshav said, “The chairman should be called. The government has no intention of not naming names. We will see where the mistake was made and come to you with full details. We will ensure that such things do not happen in the future. We are informing you and the members through you about this. We want the GST bill, Nala bill and other government bills to be passed”.

Opposition leader Botsa said, “This is happening repeatedly. If it happens once or twice, we can fix it. We are not against the GST bill. Unless it is against the constitution.. we are not against the bills. But this should come to a full stop. We do not care about the discussion. We should get an answer from the government”.

Minister Keshav intervened and said, “The government has no intention of not calling the chairman. Unless there was a mistake,  it was not done intentionally. We will respect the Speaker’s chair,” he explained. Chairman Moshen Raju intervened and urged respect for institutions and society. He thanked the government and opposition members for recognizing the unfortunate situation in the matter of his personal protocol and mentioning it in the House, and for responding positively to it. This brought an end to the controversy.
