Tollywood director Prashanth Varma hogged the limelight after he delivered a blockbuster with the first superhero film in our country, Hanu-Man, a mythological extravaganza based on the Hindu deity Lord Hanuman. The film emerged as one of the biggest box office hits of all time and made Prashanth Varma a name to reckon with not just in Tollywood but all over the country. Emboldened by this success, Varma has already announced that he will continue making more films in his cinematic universe.
As revealed earlier, Prashanth Varma will soon be joining hands with Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh for another ambitious and larger-than-life drama that is going to be made on a stupendous budget. The film, we hear, is tentatively titled Rakshas, and it is billed as a mythological action film set against the backdrop of the pre-Independence era. Ranveer Singh was reportedly blown away by the vision and the detailing of Varma and immediately agreed to jump on the board. The title suggests that the lead protagonist will play a negative role inspired by Brahmarakshasa, an unrighteous being of Hindu folklore.
The formal launch of this film was held recently, and the regular shooting will kick off very soon. Interestingly, Rakshas will be the immediate next film of both Varma and Ranveer Singh. This means that Jai Hanuman, which was supposed to be the next film in the Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe, will be kept on hold for the time being, and Rakshas will hit the screens in 2025.
Mythri Movie Makers is on board to shell the money bags for Rakshas. More details about this crazy project will be out shortly.
