In today’s hectic film world where there’s a release of new films every other week, directors prefer to have a solitary release date to avoid clashing with other movies. But Kollywood’s young and vibrant hero Pradeep Ranganathan is caught in an unprecedented situation this festive season. Two of his most awaited movies, Dude and Love Insurance Kompany, are about to come out at the same time and will end up clashing at the box office.

Pradeep Ranganathan’s career has been in a steep rise ever since the success of Love Today and Dragon. Both of these films received widespread critical acclaim and established Pradeep as one of Kollywood’s brightest stars. Love Insurance Kompany was initially scheduled to release in September, and Dude was scheduled for a Diwali release. But the producers of Love Insurance Kompany came up with an unexpected twist by announcing a new release date of October 17, which moved the schedule to Diwali. It was later confirmed by the Dude team that their movie too would be releasing during the Diwali period.

This sudden confrontation between the two movies translates to Pradeep being stuck with both his projects vying for the same crowd. The Diwali period is a prime time for films, as it is one of the most profitable periods for the industry, and it sees maximum footfalls for theaters. While ordinarily this would be a great time for any actor, the clash in releases puts Pradeep in a tight situation, with both films likely to suffer at the box office.

The release timing is important, because Diwali is one of the most competitive timeframes as far as movies are concerned. The troubling part of seeing two movies released at the same time with the same star is that one movie may eclipse the other in terms of box office totals.
