In today’s digital era, film leaks have become one of the biggest challenges for Tollywood. In spite of stringent restrictions on the shoot locations, pictures and videos continue to leak onto social media, going viral in a matter of minutes. For high-budget films, such leaks tend to water down the interest and kill the buzz that creators painstakingly generate through the official teasers.
Just recently, Anil Ravipudi and Megastar Chiranjeevi’s new film faced a similar situation, where some of the footage from the set was leaked online. The filmmakers had immediately given a stern warning that anyone that leaked or shared that footage would be violating copyright law and would potentially have legal consequences.
And now, the newest film to fall victim to leaks is Pan-India star Prabhas’ much-awaited production Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. A image from the sets of Prabhas, looking dapper in a vintage costume, was released and within minutes went viral on social media, echoing huge excitement among all their fans!
Reacting to the incident, Mythri Movie Makers, the producers, came out with an official statement denouncing the act. They emphasized that the crew has been working day and night to present a world-class film experience and cautioned that such leaks dishearten the cast and crew. They went on to warn that social media handles posting these pictures would be deleted and strict action under cybercrime legislation would be taken against the culprits.
Fauji is shaping up to be a grand period war drama, with reports suggesting that Prabhas will be seen portraying a soldier in the British Army. The film also stars Imanvi as the female lead opposite the superstar.
With ridiculous expectations already surrounding the project, it will be important for them to keep everything under wraps and make sure fans see it in the theatres as intended.
