Endowment Minister Konda Surekha’s comments that minister’s taking commission became a normal practice has been creating political uproar in Telangana, as both BRS and BJP leaders attribute her comments of admitting corruption on Revanth Reddy-led Congress government.
However, she lamented that the opposition misinterpreted her comments and asserted that she was referring to the ministers of the previous BRS government.
“Some people have completely distorted my comments that the ministers of the previous BRS government used to take money for doing any work. I made those comments referring to the performance of the ministers of the previous BRS government. It is not reasonable to distort my comments incorrectly”, she said.
She made it clear that her comments that the ministers used to take commissions during the BRS regime are literally true and she still stands by those words. Stating that some people were deliberately spreading false propaganda on the comments she made in Warangal on Thursday, the minister gave a lengthy explanation in the form of a statement on Friday.
She alleged that the BRS leaders, unable to bear the fact that their Congress government was doing a wonderful job, were conspiring to spread malicious propaganda through their paid social media. As part of this, the minister revealed that this was the conspiracy behind removing some of my comments in the video and deliberately highlighting some of the remaining parts.
“I only said that ministers in the previous government were paid to work, but they accused paid social media people of making a morphed video of my comments and circulating it on social media for two days”, she added. Surekha expressed her concern that by circulating this video like this, they are trying to create a rift between their ministerial colleagues.
She said that their government knows how to work and how to govern and criticized that BRS only knows how to do fake propaganda and false propaganda on social media.
Meanwhile, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said that Minister Konda Surekha has finally told the truth that money has to be given to ministers for any file to be moved. He accused that the Congress party is running a commission government in the state.
He demanded her that the names of ministers who are taking commissions be revealed. Can CM A. Revanth Reddy and Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi investigate the corruption allegations made by his own party minister?, he asked.
Union Coal Minister and State BJP President G. Kishan Reddy also demanded an immediate investigation into who took how much commission during the last 18 months of Congress rule. He commented that it was unfortunate that a minister herself admitted that ministers were taking commissions.
