Visakhapatnam police are said to be making efforts to reopen the kidnap case of YCP’s former Visakhapatnam MP MVV Sathyanarayana family members. He is believed to be having links with many land grabs and financial crimes in the city. Police are suspecting that a thorough probe would expose several financial crimes of MVV and his associates.
As the kidnap created a sensation during the YCP regime, the police hurriedly closed the case without revealing details by concluding that it was for money. As there were many doubts about the incidents, many demanded a re-investigation to expose the mystery behind the kidnap.
Recently, a senior police officer went to the Visakha Central Jail and talked to rowdy sheeter Hemant, the main suspect in the kidnapping case, for over an hour and a half. He was questioned about his relationship with MVV and also G.Venkateswara Rao (GV), the former chairman of Smart City Corporation, who is close to MVV.
According to sources, he has reportedly said that both MVV and GV used him for many settlements, for which they promised to give him money. But, he was not given money, besides locked him in many cases and sent to jail. With that grudge only, he said he had resorted to kidnap family members of GVV.
If it is true, the police are likely to probe into land grabs, transactions and financial crimes both MVV and JV carried out with the help of the Hemant gang. A few days ago, when Hemant appeared in court, it was reported that an unsigned letter was sent out by his friends.
In that letter, he has reportedly given details of 12 valuable places around Visakhapatnam, five villas and five other expensive cars given to him as gifts following settlements he carried out. Now police suspect such settlements led to kidnap drama?
It may be recalled that earlier Hemanth with some other friends kidnapped MVV’s son Sarath from their house in June last year. Later, MVV’s wife Jyoti and Jeevi were called there by their son Sarath and detained. They also tortured them for two days. Through this kidnap, Hemanth collected Rs 1.70 crore cash from them.
