PM Modi Praises Rajamouli And RRR Once Again At Waves 2025 Summit  

RRR, S.S. Rajamouli’s masterful film, is being remembered as one of the all-time classics of Indian cinema and is receiving acclaim globally and in India. The film hasn’t just broken box office records, it has won major awards internationally (including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and the Hollywood Critics Association Award). And of course the global buzz regarding the smash hit “Naatu Naatu” winning the Oscar for Best Original Song is too great to ignore! It made us proud to be Indian on social media.

During RRR’s international run, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ever so often commended the success of the movie and how it has helped to propagate Indian culture. Repeatedly, he has congratulated Rajamouli and his crew for placing Indian cinema at the international level.

In his speech during the distinguished Waves 2025 Summit in Mumbai, PM Modi again congratulated RRR’s historic victory and praised Rajamouli on his visionary storytelling. In his speech, the Prime Minister underlined the manner in which Indian cinema has grown as a powerful medium to show the nation’s culture, heritage, and values to international communities. He took the instance of RRR winning an Oscar as a shining testimony to the expanding global appeal of Indian cinema.

PM Modi also spoke of the evolution of Indian cinema, recalling the way it had started with Dadasaheb Phalke’s Raja Harishchandra in 1913. He touched on the achievements of milestones of legends such as Raj Kapoor and Satyajit Ray and the way current icons such as Rajamouli and A.R. Rahman have continued the legacy by becoming international stars through their work. Modi also talked about the rapid growth of India’s entertainment and digital industries, in which he praised their contribution toward developing the country’s soft power.

The Waves 2025 Summit took place in Mumbai’s Jio Convention Centre shed extra light on Telugu cinema this year. Stars like Megastar Chiranjeevi, King Nagarjuna, director Rajamouli, Icon Star Allu Arjun, and Vijay Deverakonda were invited to attend. Each celebrity took part in dedicated panels by themselves and shared stories about their creative journeys and visionary thoughts on the future of Indian entertainment globally.

Audio-Visual & Entertainment Summit (Waves 2025) is from May 1 to May 4 and hosts top talent from film, media, and digital sectors. The summit is a celebration of Indian cinema with the exchange of ideas on how the entertainment world is changing.
