Even days after getting interim bail in EVM breaking case Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy and his brother Venkatrami Reddy are `absconding’ fearing arrest in other cases. They now approached AP High Court again seeking anticipatory bail in three more cases.
Two cases have already been registered in the Palvaigate polling center related to the EVM vandalism incident and the attack on the CI. Another case has been reported now. Nomula Manikya Rao, a TDP worker and TDP agent at Kandlakunta polling station, complained to the Mangalagiri police that there was a threat to his life from the Pinnelli brothers.
He alleged that four persons were hired to kill him. He expressed fear of going to Macherla and approached the police to provide him protection. Manikya Rao along with the TDP leaders handed over the petition to the DGP. The leaders said that DGP Harish Kumar Gupta responded positively and promised to take appropriate action against those responsible.
The High Court conducted an emergency hearing on Sunday. However, the hearing was adjourned to Monday for continuation of arguments on these petitions. Also the matter of the case where CI Narayanaswamy was attacked and injured by Pinnelli and his followers was also mentioned.
The court directed the PP to look into the details of the case. The Rentachintala police have registered a case of attempted murder against TDP agent Namburi Seshagiri Rao at Palvaigate polling station in Rentachintala mandal.
Similarly, on the next day of polling, MLA Pinnelli and his younger brother Venkataramireddy went to Karampudi with their followers. However, the police received a complaint that CI Narayanaswamy, who tried to stop the clashes, was attacked and injured. In this incident, another case has been registered in Karampudi PS under sections 307 and others against Pinnelli, his brother and followers.
On the other hand, another woman questioned MLA Pinnelli after she came out after destroying the EVM in the polling booth at Palvaigate. On the woman’s complaint that the MLA abused her badly, the Rentachintala police registered another case.
In these cases, Pinnelli approached the High Court for bail. PP told the court that Pinnelli had violated the conditions imposed by the High Court during the argument. He said that the police could not keep a vigil on his movements.
Suggesting not to grant interim bail, he also said that there is a possibility of creating riots on the day of counting of votes. The lawyer also argued on behalf of the CI but the hearing was adjourned to Monday for the continuation of the arguments on these petitions.
