Thousands of people from as many as 87 countries have signed in an online petition promoted by AP Tomorrow seeking immediate posting to senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao, who is now under suspension.
N. Chakraborty, president of the organization, said that the collection of signatures by them has received a mixed response. He alleged that the AP government is deliberately delaying even after the CAT orders that the suspension for the second time is against the rules.
So far, more than 35,000 people from 87 countries have supported the collection of signatures. The report of collection of signatures has been sent to the Election Commission. He said that Venkateswara Rao is going to retire by May 31.
On the 23rd of this month, a hearing was held in the High Court on the petition to cancel the suspension of IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao. CAT issued orders on 8th of this month, suspending AB Venkateswara Rao for the second time and violating the decision taken by the state government.
Challenging the order, the Chief Secretary of the State Government filed a petition in the High Court. The High Court, after hearing arguments from both sides, reserved its verdict. A special summer vacation bench heard the suit.
Reversing the earlier decision taken by the state government, CAT made it clear that the two suspensions on the same charge is invalid. CAT ordered the state government to immediately hand over the responsibilities and pay the salary arrears while lifting the suspension.
As the CAT judgment was not accepted by the CM Jagan Mohan Reddy government, which is targeting and harassing IPS AB Venkateswara Rao, it later filed a lawsuit in the High Court. Deputy Secretary General Administration G Jayaram filed an affidavit on his behalf in the petition filed by CS.
Jayaram said in the affidavit that CAT did not consider the fact that there were sufficient reasons for the suspension. He said that CAT has failed to comply with the judgments given by various High Courts. CAT orders are not rational.
On the other hand, the AP Tomorrow organization has taken up the collection of signatures for the posting of senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao.
