Former minister and senior YCP leader Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that in the world, only the ruling party is working under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, but now in our country, he alleged that the Telugu Desam Party is running the Taliban regime in Andhra Pradesh without any opposition
He recalled that the post of PAC chairman is being given to the opposition anywhere in the country and YCP had given the post of PAC chairman to the opposition as well. The PAC chairman was given to the Congress party, which had a single legislator in the past. But, he deplored that only the Telugu Desam Party in AP intends to govern without any opposition.
He alleged that the coalition government is targeting the YSRCP on every occasion and is doing a big campaign. He strongly condemned that every time it is mocking the previous government for its destruction. He wondered that the coalition government is not telling the people what they will do after the formation of the government.
He expressed concern that the YSRCP, which claims to hear the voice of the people, is not recognized as an opposition. He demanded that their leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy should be given an opportunity to speak in the House as the Leader of the Opposition.
“We have already filed a case in the court regarding this. We have also requested the Governor to recognize the YSRCP as the opposition. However, when the government did not respond to this, we protested and boycotted the House”, he added.
Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Botsa Satyanarayana lamented that the coalition government is acting unilaterally without giving the opposition the status and respect it deserves.
“We demanded this in the Governor’s speech. There are only two parties in the House. One is the coalition parties in power, and the other is the YSRCP, which is in opposition. That is why we have requested that we be recognized as the opposition”, he said.
Along with that, the former minister said that they have questioned the difficulties and hardships faced by the chilli farmers. He recalled that this government started thinking about the farmers only after YS Jagan went to the Guntur chilli yard. However, he deplored that even today, it is not purchasing chillies.
On the other hand, he said “the Center is only saying that it should respond and buy them. Why aren’t we buying chillies through Mark Fade? We need opposition status to talk about such issues, only then will we have time”.
