Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has taken strong exception to the Telugu film industry’s silence towards Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, even a year after the NDA government came to power. In an official statement, he expressed displeasure that no major film personalities have made a courtesy call to the Chief Minister, despite the current government’s consistent efforts to support and develop the film sector. He questioned whether the industry had forgotten the difficulties it faced under the previous government, which he alleged discriminated against certain actors and films.
Referring to recent interactions with top producers like Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, D. Suresh Babu, and others, Pawan Kalyan said he had urged them to act collectively for the betterment of the industry. However, he criticised their continued individual appeals to the Cinematography Department for ticket rate revisions. Stating that such practices will no longer be entertained, he clarified that henceforth, only departmental representatives would be engaged in official discussions. He described the industry’s current approach as a “return gift” and said it would be acknowledged accordingly.
Pawan Kalyan also conducted a review of cinema theatre operations across the state, focusing on viewer complaints related to high prices of food and beverages, inadequate drinking water, and poor maintenance. He announced that multiplexes in cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and Tirupati will be closely monitored for pricing and facilities. The Deputy CM is also planning initiatives to promote skill development and adoption of modern technology across 24 sectors within the film industry.
