Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena party president Pawan Kalyan has once again grabbed the headlines by enforcing a crackdown on another illicit activity in the state. Previously, he raised voice over the deteriorating law and order issues and followed it up a firm action on unbridled social media abuse and hate campaigns targeted against the families of political leaders.
Now, Pawan Kalyan has put his foot down to tackle the ongoing smuggling activities at Kakinada seaport which have been left unchecked by authorities due to the involvement of high-profile persons from political spectrum. It is a known fact that Kakinada port has been a haven for smuggling of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice for many years. In the last five years, YSR Congress party MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy was allegedly involved in this illegal export. Pawan Kalyan raised a lot of hue and cry on MLA’s involvement several times and vowed to fight against his illegal activities.
Even after the NDA government led by Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan came to power six months ago, the contraband activities at Kakinada port didn’t stop and continued as officials cooperated with the political leaders and other businessmen who are involved in exporting rice meant for civil supplies department.
In the wake of discovery of 640 tons of rice on a ship, poised for transportation approximately 9 nautical miles offshore, Pawan Kalyan accompanied by Minister Nadendla Manohar and Kakinada District Collector Shan Mohan, inspected the cargo, which was reportedly intended for export to West African countries. Kalyan vented ire at local officials, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raghuveer Vishnu and MLA Kondababu, regarding their failure to prevent the illegal export of such a large quantity of ration rice.
He exhorted officials to take immediate action against those responsible for the smuggling activities. His proactive measures come in the wake of rising public concern about the smuggling operations at Kakinada Port and reflect his commitment to addressing corruption and protecting essential resources meant for the local population.
Pawan said he would apprise Union Home Minister Amit Shah of the security lapses at the ports based in Kakinada as they posed a major threat to the national security as well as key installations in the Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin.
“We are contemplating conducting a detailed probe either by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the illegal export of PDS rice and security lapses at these ports. The issue will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting to finalise the future course of action,” Mr. Pawan Kalyan said.
Pawan Kalyan’s sudden visit to expose this menace has now become a trending topic all over the nation. The manner in which Pawan personally swung into action and highlighted the sensitive issue besides warning the officials and even the local TDP MLA showcases that he is adopting zero tolerance policy towards major issues which have been prevalent since 2019 at the behest of the government officials and political leaders.
Pawan Kalyan’s videos from this stunning heist in which he was seen giving a stern warning to everyone there have been trending on social media since today afternoon. His words ‘Seize the ship’ are now trending everywhere.
