Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has made it clear that the goal of the coalition government is to provide essential commodities to the poor families in the state through ration shops from June 1st. He said that from now onwards, the ration shops will be available to the people from the 1st to the 15th of every month.
Pawan explained that these shops will be open from 8 am to 12 pm and again from 4 pm to 8 pm. Pawan Kalyan tweeted to this extent on social media platform X. He recalled that during Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, the ration shops used to be closed and they would be delivered door to door, but he was angry that they did not implement it.
Pawan Kalyan said that they bought vehicles worth Rs. 1600 crores and stopped delivering them door to door and parked the vehicles at junctions for only one to two days a month. “Many poor people have been inconvenienced by vehicles being parked at major intersections and distributing goods,” he said.
He expressed his concern that people had to give up their daily chores because they did not know when the ration vehicle would arrive, and that those doing odd jobs had to take holidays. He said that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had conducted a full-scale investigation into the illegal movement of remaining ration rice and other goods.
Pawan Kalyan revealed that thousands of tons of illegal rice were seized at the ports of Kakinada and Visakhapatnam as part of this investigation. He clarified that in order to curb such irregularities, the government has decided to provide essential commodities to the poor through discount shops.
As part of this new policy, he said that the government has also provided the facility of providing ration commodities to the disabled and elderly people above 65 years of age at their doorsteps. He said that his government’s aim is to ensure that the poor people get essential commodities regularly and on time.
