Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan said that the Jal Jeevan Mission will be further strengthened in the state and all steps will be taken to provide safe drinking water through taps to every household in rural areas under the name of Amrutdhara.
He reminded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream is to provide an average of 55 liters of clean water per day to every person, and he started this scheme with the aspiration of having a continuous supply of water to everyone. He lamented that the previous government wasted four thousand crore rupees by not depositing its share of funds.
He said that he has requested the Union Minister of Jal Shakti to allocate Rs. 76,000 crore rupees to the state and extend the deadline. Pawan Kalyan appealed to all to cooperate in the state-level workshop of the officials of the Rural Water Supply Department to overcome the engineering errors and implement this scheme properly with the participation of not only the employees but also the people.
A state-level workshop was held with the officials of the Rural Water Supply Department in Vijayawada for the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission program. The state government intends to use modern technology to clean the existing protected drinking water schemes from time to time and ensure safe water to the people.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that although this scheme was launched across the country on August 15, 2019, the activities started in the state two years late. He expressed his regret that the previous government in the state could not properly take forward this scheme, which started with high ambitions.
He was angry that Kerala, which is smaller than us in terms of population, had asked for up to Rs 45,000 crores, but our state had sent proposals for only Rs 26,000 crores. He said that the state share of funds could not be deposited for this too. He said that the right water resources were not selected, pipes were laid and abandoned in many places, and funds of four thousand crore rupees were wasted due to many errors.
