Pawan Kalyan Prefers State Over Centre

Putting an end to the uncertainty looming over his candidature for Loksabha polls, Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan clarified that he will contest only from the assembly seat of the Pithapuram segment in the upcoming polls. Political circles and media houses have been speculating that Pawan is tipped to contest as Kakinada MP for quite some time now. But, Pawan made it clear that he prefers the interests of the State instead of entering the Loksabha.

Besides ending the suspense over his plans, Pawan Kalyan also announced the candidature of Tangella Uday Kumar as the Janasena contestant for the Kakinada MP seat which was allotted to the party as part of the NDA alliance. Uday Kumar, owner of the famous tea chain outlet ‘Tea Time’ and in-charge of the Pithapuram assembly constituency, has been working hard for the party for the past five years. As he sacrificed his assembly seat for Pawan Kalyan, who relocated from Bhimavaram to Pithapuram, Uday Kumar was nominated as the MP candidate of Kakinada.

Pawan Kalyan revealed that the national leadership of the BJP advised him to contest in the Loksabha polls besides choosing an assembly seat. However, Pawan decided to contest as an MLA because he felt that serving the State was the top priority over the nation.

Though Pawan Kalyan didn’t reveal the reasons for opting Pithapuram and shifting out of Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram, where he contested unsuccessfully in 2019 elections, said that all three constituencies are very important to him.

Pawan called for unity of all communities in Pithapuram and requested them to work towards a massive victory of Janasena in the elections. On Tuesday, several leaders from different parties joined Janasena in the presence of Pawan Kalyan. They vowed to work for his victory.
