Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena Party Chief Pawan Kalyan has come strong and unapologetic over the recent theatre bandh that raised waves in the Telugu film industry. Suspecting a larger conspiracy behind the sudden closure, Pawan has moved into action with strong steps in the direction of accountability and overhaul.
The controversy gained traction when senior producer Dil Raju, during a press conference, claimed that the spark behind the bandh came from Janasena leader Atti Satyanarayana—not the film fraternity. He clarified that the industry had no official involvement in organizing the closure of theatres.
Taking these remarks seriously, the Janasena Party acted swiftly. The party released a statement that Atti Satyanarayana, the Janasena in-charge of Rajahmundry, has been suspended with effect from today from all party positions based on an internal inquiry. In a strong disciplinary action, his party membership was also revoked, emphasizing Pawan Kalyan’s adherence to clean politics and people’s accountability.
This firm action reflects Pawan’s interest in upholding public faith and allaying audience fears about openness in the entertainment industry. In a similar step, he has directed the Cinematography Minister to initiate checks in Andhra Pradesh theatres. These checks will focus on whether the facilities being provided justify the ticket prices being collected from moviegoers.
Pawan Kalyan has also indicated that the government would consider proposals only if they are channelled through official industry associations, like the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. He insisted that individual producers, even those connected to his own film productions like Hari Hara Veera Mallu, would not be heard directly when it comes to issues like ticket rates or policy submissions.
Reaffirming the importance of proper communication channels, Pawan emphasized that no personal or unofficial appeals will be accepted by the state government. All dialogue must come collectively from industry-recognized associations.
Meanwhile, a formal inquiry is underway to uncover the real motives and individuals involved in orchestrating the theatre bandh. While producers have since distanced themselves from the shutdown and lauded Pawan Kalyan’s leadership, close aides say that the Janasena chief is committed to exposing the truth behind the incident.
With investigations ongoing, it’s evident that Pawan Kalyan is not only working to bring transparency to the film sector but is also determined to prevent similar disruptions in the future.
