Prayagraj: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, while attending the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, responded to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks describing the Maha Kumbh as a “death trap.” Strongly condemning her statement, he termed it “completely inappropriate.”
Speaking to national media, Pawan Kalyan said, “There is a tendency among some leaders to make casual remarks about Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism. They do not make such statements about other religions as easily. Leaders should recognize that such comments hurt the sentiments of millions.”
He emphasized that isolated incidents during the Kumbh Mela should not be viewed as administrative failures. “Organizing an event of this scale, attended by crores of devotees, is a significant challenge for any government. No one wishes for unfortunate incidents to happen. From what I have observed, the Yogi Adityanath government has been managing the event exceptionally well. While some incidents may be unfortunate, they do not justify such sweeping statements,” he stated.
Pawan Kalyan urged experienced political leaders to exercise caution in their remarks, asserting that Banerjee’s statement was unnecessary and disrespectful to Sanatan Dharma.
