Tamil actor Karthi’s remarks on laddus at the pre-release event of his latest film *Satyam Sundaram* have drawn criticism from Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The minister expressed displeasure over what he termed as insensitive comments made about the laddu, a symbol of religious significance.
During the event, held in Hyderabad, Karthi responded to a lighthearted question from the anchor about laddus by saying, “Let’s avoid talking about laddus right now; it’s a sensitive matter.” When further prompted about offering a Motichoor laddu, Karthi laughed and reiterated, “No laddu talk for now,” which elicited laughter from the audience.
However, Pawan Kalyan took issue with the exchange, emphasizing that public figures, particularly from the film industry, should either speak in support of Sanatan Dharma or refrain from making inappropriate remarks. He advised Karthi to exercise caution in his statements, adding that while he respects the actor’s craft, it is important to think carefully before speaking on topics of religious sensitivity.
