Only 2 Congress Ministers Figure Among Top 10 `performers’ Legislators In Telangana

In a major setback to the Congress government in Telangana, only two of its ministers figure in the top 10 “performers” among the 118 legislators, with a good number of them being rated as “bad” or just about “average”. Even the Opposition BRS is placed no better, with many of its legislators also failing the performance test.

The survey was conducted by Peoples Pulse, a research agency, for South First web portal, from 28 March to 3 April across 118 assembly constituencies (excluding Kodangal, represented by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy).

Irrespective of party affiliation,  the performance of more than two-thirds of the sitting legislators of Telangana is found “bad” or just about “average”. Of the 118 MLAs, only 24 have been rated as “good”.

Meanwhile, only two from the ruling Congress, both of them ministers— D Sridhar Babu and Uttam Kumar Reddy- figured in the list of top 10 performers. The survey further revealed that the performance of 36 MLAs is “bad”, while 58 MLAs have been rated as “average” or “okay”.

Among the ruling Congress MLAs, the survey revealed that the performance of seven MLAs is “good”. 20 MLAs have been rated as “bad”, while the performance of 37 MLAs was found to be “average”. Among BRS MLAs, only 12 are rated as “good”. The performance of 13 MLAs was found to be “bad”, and that of 13 MLAs “average”.

As for the BJP, who represent eight constituencies, the performance of three MLAs is “good”, one is “bad”, and four are “average”. Among the seven AIMIM MLAs, two are rated as “good”, two as “bad”, while the performance of three MLAs is “average”. The lone MLA belonging to CPI is “average”.

Former finance minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao has emerged as the `Best MLA’ among all, while the former Chief Minister and opposition leader KCR in the 2nd position, Manthani MLA and Minister Sridhar Babu in the 3rd position, AIMIM floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi at 4th place, and former Minister and Balkonda MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy is at the 5th position.

Meanwhile, Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy is in the 6th position, BRS working president and Siricilla MLA KT Rama Rao is in 7th position, Adilabad MLA from BJP Payal Shankar is in the 8th position, Huzurnagar MLA and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy is placed 9th, and Kamareddy MLA from BJP, Venkata Ramana Reddy, is in the 10th position.

Among women MLAs, former Minister and Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy of BRS is in the first position, while minister and Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha, is in the 7th position.
