Two senior IPS officers who were known for their proximity with the previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, received a shock today. The coalition government has issued orders extending the suspension of one of the two on disciplinary grounds. The ACB court has remanded another IPS officer in a corruption case.
This seems to have dealt a setback to two senior IPS officers on the same day. IPS PV Sunil Kumar, who served as the CID chief during the YSRCP regime, was facing serious allegations at the time. However, Jaganmohan Reddy did not respond to these. Now the coalition government has issued orders suspending PV Sunil Kumar.
In addition to allegations of foreign trips made against Sunil Kumar without informing the government, there are allegations such as misuse of aid given to Agrigold victims and attack on former MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju. Due to this, he was previously suspended. The suspension imposed on Sunil Kumar last year was extended for four months in April this year. As the suspension period was about to expire in two more days, the review committee conducted a review.
Now, orders have been issued extending it for six months again. These orders have been issued as per the decision of the review committee. The review committee reported that lifting the suspension would affect the evidence and investigation. Since the investigation is at a crucial stage, it recommended extending the suspension.
In this context, the government has ordered the DGP to take further action. CS Vijayanand issued orders extending the suspension orders to this extent.
On the other hand, Senior IPS officer Sanjay has been remanded for 14 days by the Vijayawada ACB court. It is known that the Vigilance and Enforcement Department had submitted two separate reports to the coalition government alleging that Sanjay had committed corruption as the chief of the fire department and the head of the CID during the YSRCP regime. The court, which conducted an investigation into this, sent Sanjay to remand.
The police have registered a case against him for committing major irregularities in the issuance of NOC in the NRI department. Sanjay approached the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail. The bench recently dismissed the anticipatory bail petition. Along with this, it has also ordered him to surrender before the ACB court within three weeks.
In this context, he appeared in court on Tuesday. In the past, Sanjay’s stance in several key cases including Margadarshi has been controversial. In this context, a corruption case has been registered against Sanjay. He was arrested after he went all the way to the Supreme Court and got no relief.
