The election process in Jubilee Hills by-election started on Monday after the Election Commission issued notification for the election and the nomination schedule begins on Monday. The nominations will be accepted from today till the 21st of this month. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on the 22nd and the withdrawal of nominations will be done till the 24th.
Polling for the by-election will be held on the 11th of next month and counting on the 14th. The election process will be completed in its entirety on the 16th. Nominations will be accepted at the Sheikhpet MMA R.O. office. Special arrangements have been made in this regard. District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, who visited the office of the Returning Officer, reviewed the preparations with the ROs and AROs.
Returning Officer Sai Ram was advised to complete all necessary arrangements in accordance with the ECI rules to ensure a smooth nomination process. From the time of receiving nominations through the Suvidha portal, nomination papers can be downloaded online and details can be entered online.
However, even if the nomination is made online, the candidate has to be present in person. Signature and oath are mandatory. They have to be present before the deadline for receiving nominations. Maganti Gopinath’s wife Maganti Sunita Gopinath is in the fray from the BRS party. Naveen Yadav will contest from the Congress. The BJP is likely to announce its candidate today.
It is expected that the AIMIM will stay away from the contest in order to provide indirect support to the Congress. However, the fact that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has stated that they have not yet taken any decision regarding this by-election is surprising to Congress circles. Owaisi stated that he has good relations with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
However, hesaid that they have not made any ideological compromise based on these relations alone. Asaduddin Owaisi said that they have no alliance with the Congress. He recalled that they had supported BRS in the last elections. Since there are 90,000 Muslim voters in this constituency, the support of MIM has become crucial for the Congress. That is why Chief Minister Revanth Reddy insisted on making Naveen Yadav, who contested as an MIM candidate in the last elections, the Congress candidate.
