Netflix Fine Buzz Hits Thug Life Team After Film’s Box Office Failure

Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated movie “Thug Life”, helmed by iconic director Mani Ratnam, released in theaters with sky-high expectations. Having a big-star cast with Trisha and Simbu, the movie was expected to be a huge hit. Although there was much ado about the movie and anticipation, “Thug Life” failed to make an impact at the box office and ultimately failed commercially.

Before it went to theatres, the producers of the movie had already made it very clear that the film would hit the OTT platforms only after an 8 weeks’ gap. However, ever since the film flopped at the box office, reports emerged that Netflix could release the South Indian language versions of the film much earlier — even within a month.

Adding fuel to the speculation, new rumors indicate that Netflix has levied a ₹25 lakh fine on the production unit for reportedly breaking their initial OTT deal. Even though this news hasn’t been officially released by either party, it has definitely become a buzz topic among movie watchers and industry circles.

Fascinatingly, latest updates reveal that the Hindi adaptation of “Thug Life” will still go ahead as planned and hit OTT post-8-week theatrical window, without any alteration.

Watch out for official confirmation on this ongoing saga, particularly as Netflix and the producers will soon set the record straight on this ongoing OTT release rumour.
