Nellore Quartz Mining Scam: Key Accused Anil Kumar Under Scanner After Explosive Revelations

There has been a dramatic turn in the ongoing probe into the case of illegal quartz mining and explosives in Nellore. Officials have revealed that Anil Kumar, an active player in the business, was not only an active participant but also earned quite substantially from the illegal operations.

The case saw a decisive turn after police arrested Srikanth Reddy, a known business associate and partner of Anil Kumar. In his interrogation, Srikanth allegedly spilled the beans, giving out revealing information that has further focused the limelight on Anil.

As per Srikanth’s confession, the illegal quartz business had been running since August 2023, with Anil Kumar, Srikanth, and another individual named Kakani jointly involved. Despite the expiration of the official lease for the Rustom mine, the trio allegedly continued large-scale excavation of quartz.

Police sources stated that Vakati Siva Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy were responsible for managing the mining operations, while Srikanth oversaw the site in return for ₹1,000 per ton of mined quartz.

The illegally extracted quartz was then stockpiled in the agricultural land of Enugu Shashidhar Reddy. A private agreement was reportedly made to pay ₹25,000 per acre for using the land as a dumping ground. From there, the material was exported to China, with Srikanth alleging that the proceeds were split between Anil Kumar and Kakani.

These revelations have placed Anil Kumar in serious legal jeopardy. Investigating officers also suspect his involvement in a wider betting racket—marking the first time his name has come up in connection with criminal operations.

Reports suggest that if the authorities establish tangible evidence of cash dealings connecting Anil or his relatives to the scam, he might be forced to hide and apply for anticipatory bail in order to avoid arrest.

As the investigation deepens, all eyes are now on Anil Kumar, with law enforcement agencies determined to uncover the full extent of his involvement in the high-profile quartz mining scam.
