As the new year unfolds, Minister Nara Lokesh has made a heartening announcement that is set to positively impact the grassroots workers of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh. With a genuine commitment to the party’s dedicated workers, Lokesh has secured an important agreement to provide accident insurance coverage to one crore TDP workers, acknowledging their selfless contributions to the party, whether in power or not. This move is seen as a thoughtful “New Year gift” to the hardworking TDP cadre.

Part of the TDP membership registration campaign, national general secretary Nara Lokesh entered into an understanding with the best insurance companies, providing grass root workers with overall accident cover. The deal at United India Insurance and Pragmatic Insurance Broking marks the first time, in political history, such a large number of workers have become beneficiaries of an insurance scheme.

This historic initiative, which starts this year, will see TDP earmarking 42 crore rupees for the first phase of the insurance scheme, with an equal amount allocated for the subsequent year. Accident coverage up to 5 lakh rupees will be available to the party workers in this scheme. At a total investment of 138 crore rupees, Nara Lokesh has ensured that welfare for TDP workers remains high on the priority list.

In the past, during the tenure of the previous YSR Congress (YSRCP) government, Lokesh had already established a special assistance cell at the TDP’s central office in Mangalagiri, aimed at helping workers who had suffered accidents. Besides, through the NTR Trust, residential schools in Hyderabad and Channapalle (Krishna district) were set up to provide free education to the children of deceased workers. Nara Lokesh continues to show his deep commitment to TDP workers’ welfare. He ensures providing the most vital support for them.
