TDP National General Secretary and State Education Minister Nara Lokesh said that within 9 months of coming to power, they have fully implemented 55 of the 177 promises given in the manifesto and partially implemented 49. Almost half of the promises have been implemented, he said.
Lokesh speaking at a program held at the TDP central office in Mangalagiri on the occasion of the TDP completing 43 years, said the yellow flag is an emotion for the Telugu people. He said that if the formation of Telugu Desam was a sensation, then the first victory is history. He said that whether records are to be broken in politics or rewritten, it is possible only for TDP.
“The three letters NTR have fought for the self-respect of the Telugu people. They have become the heartbeat of the Telugu people. NTR introduced welfare to the country. Chandrababu introduced development to the country”, he said.
Lokesh recalled that their government provides the highest pension in the country. He said that the TDP knows not only street politics but also Delhi politics. Even if they get the opportunity to rule the central governments, they never use it for selfish reasons, and the interests of the state are important to us, he added.
Lokesh reminded that the TDP has worked hard in making Abdul Kalam the President, in getting the Bharat Ratna for Ambedkar, and in making Balayogi the first Dalit Speaker of Parliament. ‘‘I will fight for the activists as much as I fight outside the party. My goal is to identify the activists and leaders who work hard for the party”, he asserted.
That is why, he recalled that he had put a proposal before the party. After serving two terms in one post, one should move to a higher post or take a break for a term. If this happens, there will be movement at all levels in the party, he added. He assured that even a village level leader will have the opportunity to rise to a state level leader.
“Even if I am serving as the National General Secretary for the fourth time.. Start the purge in the party with me. I will respect the seniors. I will give promotions to the juniors who work.. This is my style”, he added. If the party wants to survive for another 40 years, he said that it needs new blood.
