Nara Lokesh Launched Mid-Day Meal Scheme In Junior Colleges

The Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal Scheme was launched in government junior colleges across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday. Education Minister Lokesh formally launched this scheme at Payakapuram Government Junior College, Vijayawada. In this context, he inspected the chemistry and physics labs in the college. Later, Lokesh held an interview with the second-year intermediate students.

Lokesh, who inspected the students’ books, asked several questions.  He advised the students that this is a very crucial time and they should make a habit of staying away from bad addictions like drugs and marijuana from now on. Lokesh explained that wherever there is a drug environment in your surroundings, the government should be alerted immediately.

“Students should study well and achieve good results. We are working towards bringing revolutionary changes in the education system in the coming days. We should take advantage of the opportunities provided by the government and achieve the best results. If you study well, you will get a good job and thus you can take care of your family well. It is in your hands to bring a good name to your parents.” said Nara Lokesh.

“I lost in Mangalagiri in 2019. But with perseverance, I won in Mangalagiri with a record majority. Wins and losses are natural in life. Many students are committing suicide because they failed exams. Students should take the lead with courage. We have decided to keep the education system away from politics. That is why we have started schemes in the name of celebrities,” Lokesh added.

On the other hand, ministers and MLAs launched the mid-day meal scheme in their respective constituencies. This will benefit 1,48,419 students in 475 government junior colleges in the state.

Out of 475 government junior colleges, 398 colleges are affiliated to nearby schools. Meals are prepared there. The remaining 77 colleges are affiliated to centralized kitchens. Rs. 27 crores will be spent this year and Rs. 85 crores in the next academic year for the implementation of mid-day meals for intermediate students.
