Minister Nara Lokesh inaugurated the VR Model School in Nellore on Monday and expressed confidence that Nellore VR High School will become the number one model school in the country. He praised the VR High School, which has a rich history, for being wonderfully developed.

He joked that he was very surprised to see the terrible condition of the VR School, which has a history of 150 years, six months ago  and now he is jealous. He congratulated Minister Narayana for developing the VR High School very well. He recalled that people like former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, former Chief Minister Bezwada Gopala Reddy and singer SP Balu studied in this school.

After inaugurating this school, Lokesh inspected the classrooms, digital education system, and books in the library. He interacted with the students in each classroom. Inspected the sports ground. Played cricket and volleyball with the students. Speaking on the occasion, Lokesh said that in the coming days, he will make the AP education system the best in the country.

Unfortunately, he deplored that the historic VR School was closed during the previous government. He appreciated that Minister Narayana took the school he studied and reopened it with great pride. The infrastructure of the school was upgraded to international standards to provide world-class education to underprivileged children, he said.

In just one year of the formation of the coalition government, Lokesh said that they have brought significant changes in the education sector. Government schools are now competing with private and corporate schools. Modern classrooms, safe drinking water facilities, smart boards and other facilities have been made available in VR Municipal High School.

He also said that an adequate number of teachers have been appointed without any shortage of teachers. Between 2014-19, he hailed that Minister Narayana implemented development projects worth Rs. 5,250 crore in Nellore.

“We are making government schools comparable to private schools. We have improved everything including uniforms and infrastructure. We are providing better technology to students to compete with the world,” said Lokesh. Earlier, Lokesh felicitated Ponguru Sarani, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, and Devireddy Sudhakar Reddy, who had come forward for the P4 program.
