While several top BRS leaders are in que joining Congress party as the later opened its gates keeping in view of Lok Sabha elections, the meeting of key member of Nandamuri family, who is quiet active in Telugu Desam party activities in Greater Hyderabad with chief minister Revanth Reddy catching the attention of many.
It may be recalled that inspite of winning a majority of MLA seats in most of Telangana district, Congress failed to win a single seat in 28 constituencies of Greater Hyderabad. Even though TDP kept out of the election race, indirectly supporting Congress, a large number of people who hail from Seemandhra preferred BRS candidates. Even after rootout in other districts, it has won all assembly seats in the city, except one Ghoshamahal, which was one by BJP’s Raja Singh for the third consecutive year.
In view of the party’s dismissal performance in Greater Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy is making special efforts to attract key BRS leaders into the party. City Mayor and daughter of key BRS leader Dr K Keshava Rao, Smt G Vijayalakshmi joined Congress on Saturday. Earlier, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender joined the ruling party and he was fielded as Congress candidate from Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat.
Late Nandamuri Harikrishna’s daughter and TDP leader Nandamuri Suhasini met Revanth Reddy at his residence in the presence of State Congress affairs in-charge Deepadas Munshi, Minister Konda Surekha and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy.
It became interesting that Revanth met Suhasi during the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2018 elections, Suhasini contested from the Kukatpally constituency as part of the Grand Alliance on behalf of the TDP. Presently she is Vice President of Telangana TDP.
As Congress is yet to announce candidates for 4 Lok Sabha seats, many speculate that there is a possibility of giving the MP ticket to Suhasini. But Suhasini concluded that it was just a courtesy meeting. But Congress circles admitting that Revanth Reddy is keen to induct her into Congress offering a respectable position.
According to sources, she may be offered an MLC seat or during next elections GHMC Mayor. Congress leaders are of the view that her joining Congress will have influence on Seemandhra population in the city.
