The NDA government in Andhra Pradesh under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is going to fulfill one of the most popular poll promises on August 15th. As promised during the election campaign earlier this year before the general elections in the state, Telugu Desam Party national president Chandrababu Naidu will resume ‘Anna Canteens’ all over the state. In the first phase, 100 canteens across 33 municipalities will be opened.
The first Anna Canteen will be opened by Naidu in Vuyyuru constituency of Krishna district on Independence Day. The authorities concerned are making necessary arrangements for its launch in a grand manner. Naidu and other TDP leaders will grace the occasion and reopen the Anna Canteens that were closed by the previous government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy immediately after coming to power in 2019.
The YSR Congress party sidelined this scheme and used some of the dedicated buildings as Sachivalayams and left many of them unused. Immediately after assuming charge as CM, Naidu instructed the authorities to renovate these buildings and get them ready in two months. Accordingly, necessary steps have been taken and many buildings across the state have been given a face lift.
Chandrababu Naidu will open the first canteen at 06:30 PM on August 15th and the remaining 99 canteens will be started by MLAs and Ministers from those segments. The government is planning to open all canteens in every district in the next few months.
Like it did in the past, the NDA government will sponsor for three meals every day to the poor and needy people at an affordable price of Rs 5 per meal.
Anna Canteens will be reopened in Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Anantapur, Eluru and other places in the State. After the launch of the canteens by Mr. Naidu, the local Ministers and MLAs will launch the canteens in their respective districts.
Krishna district officials reviewed the arrangements for the Chief Minister’s programme. The remaining canteens would be reopened in the next phase, the officers said.
