Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel Set for OTT Release

Naga Chaitanya’s latest romantic action thriller Thandel, directed by Chandu Mondeti, is set to premiere on Netflix on March 7. The film, inspired by real-life events, narrates the story of fishermen from D. Matsyalesam village in Srikakulam district who were captured by the Pakistan Coast Guard and imprisoned for two years.  

Released in theaters on February 7, Thandel emerged as a major box office success, grossing over ₹100 crore and marking one of the highest collections in Naga Chaitanya’s career. Sai Pallavi plays the female lead.  

The film will be available for streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The announcement was made by the OTT platform via its official X handle.  

Plot Overview:  

The film follows Raju (Naga Chaitanya), a fisherman who grows up under the guidance of his father, the Thandel (leader of the fishing community). Recognized for his leadership, Raju is chosen as the new Thandel. His bond with childhood friend Sathya (Sai Pallavi) deepens into love, and the two plan to marry after his next fishing expedition.  

However, a storm pushes Raju’s boat into Pakistan’s waters, where he and his fellow fishermen are captured and imprisoned. Sathya embarks on a journey from Srikakulam to the Pakistan border in an attempt to rescue them. The film explores the challenges they face and whether the couple reunites.
