Stating that issuance of new ration cards has been delayed due to e-KYC, Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar said that applications for issuance of new ration cards in the state will be accepted from Wednesday (May 7). He said that new cards will be issued, ration cards will be split, new members will be added, and address changes will be made.
He said that 3.28 lakh applications have been received for ration card change. The minister revealed that the smart card will be issued with QR code, so that the names of all family members will be clearly visible. He said that if the QR code is scanned, the details of the ration taken for the past six months will be visible.
He said that this card will provide convenience to take ration anywhere in the country and the new applications can be made for a month. He said that citizens can go to the village ward secretariats and find out their details. He said that smart cards will be issued to 4.24 crore people from the month of June.
He said that currently 95 percent of e-KYC has been completed and those who have completed e-KYC do not need to apply again. Applications will be accepted through WhatsApp Governance after the 12th of this month. He said that complete details will be available from Wednesday.
Manohar said that crop loss compensation will be provided to all farmers due to untimely rain. He said that so far 1.50 crore people have benefited through the Deepam scheme. The Minister revealed that 25 kg of fine quality rice is going to be supplied to schools from this year.
Meanwhile, Manohar said that the paddy soaked due to untimely rains will be purchased and the farmers should not worry. He held a review with the officials on the purchase of paddy of the joint West Godavari district at the Collectorate in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district.
On this occasion, he discussed with the officials the difficulties faced during the purchase of paddy at the field level. The officials were advised to work in coordination so that farmers do not face any difficulties. While the estimated production of paddy in West Godavari is 7.5 lakh tonnes, 5.5 lakh tonnes have been purchased so far.
He said that Rs. 1180 crores have been deposited with the farmers and an additional one lakh tonnes have been allowed to be purchased. While it is estimated that 3.55 lakh tonnes will be produced in Eluru district, 2.20 lakh tonnes have been purchased so far and Rs. 487 crores have been deposited with the farmers, he added.
He said that permission has been granted to purchase an additional 50,000 tonnes. He said that the government will take the responsibility of purchasing paddy soaked due to untimely rains and a decision will be taken in discussion with the Chief Minister on this.
