Story:

Murthy (Ajay Ghosh), a music enthusiast in his early 50s, runs a music shop in the village of Vinukonda. Despite his passion, his family urges him to close the shop due to its poor profitability. A chance encounter with Anjana (Chandini Chowdary), an innovative young woman, sparks a new dream in Murthy—to become a DJ. Motivated by Anjana’s support, he heads to Hyderabad to chase this aspiration. The film follows his journey, posing the question: Will Murthy achieve his dreams in the big city, or will he return to his village?

“Music Shop Murthy,” directed by Siva Paladugu, is a Telugu comedy-drama that captivates audiences with its heartfelt story and unique premise. Ajay Ghosh stars in the titular role, delivering a standout performance alongside a talented ensemble cast including Chandini Chowdary, Aamani, Bhanu Chander, Dayanand Reddy, and Amit Sharma. The film delves into Murthy’s personal challenges, the societal judgments he faces, and his relentless determination to pursue his dreams, creating a narrative that is both relatable and inspiring.

Ajay Ghosh, previously known for his memorable character roles in both comedic and antagonist capacities, steps into the spotlight in “Music Shop Murthy” and delivers a standout performance. As Murthy, he masterfully balances humor and drama, portraying a middle-aged man pursuing a seemingly impossible dream with sincerity and depth. Chandini Chowdary shines as Anjana, offering strong support and reflecting modern perspectives, adding richness to Murthy’s journey. Aamani’s portrayal of Murthy’s wife brings authenticity to the story, depicting the complexities of family life and the struggles of following one’s passion later in life.

The technical aspects of the film are praiseworthy. Sreenivas Bejugam’s cinematography effectively captures the essence of both the village and the vibrant city of Hyderabad, immersing the audience in the setting. Pavan’s music complements the narrative, enriching both emotional and comedic scenes with its effective score. Bonthala Nageswara Reddy’s editing maintains a seamless narrative flow, ensuring the audience remains engaged throughout the film.

While the movie is mostly on point, the concluding episodes could have benefited from better writing and execution. The final few minutes seem somewhat rushed, not quite meeting the high standards set by the rest of the film.

“Music Shop Murthy” shines as a touching story of resilience and passion. With its unique plot, outstanding performances, and excellent technical execution, it offers a thoroughly enjoyable viewing experience.
