The recent general election in Andhra Pradesh has badly bruised the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), leaving the party with a paltry 11 seats. A series of back to back departures have made news after the election results where more than a few former ministers and ex MLAs parted ways with the YSRCP. In the same way, various districts too are showing the pattern of exit. Whereas many leaders who deserted the YSRCP during the recent times are joining the TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP, one leader, surprisingly, opted for the ruling TDP house to enter the camp of the YSRCP. Mudunuri Murali Krishna Raju, who was once the TDP state secretary for the Prathipadu constituency, part of the Kakinada district, has made an excellent switch by joining the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) recently.
He was formally inducted into the party by its president, Jagan, with a shawl in the induction process. Murali Krishna Raju said he would continue to increase the popularity of the YSRCP in the Prathipadu locality. Murali Krishna Raju switching from TDP to YSRCP has raised much attention since political factionalism in Prathipadu seems to have provoked him to change his allegiance from TDP. In April 2023, Mudunuri Murali Krishna Raju crossed over from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
He was appointed as a state secretary of TDP and granted an observer for the constituency of Amalapuram. However, his joining has brought discontent within Prathipadu, with TDP leaders sternly criticising. They have accused Murali Raju of treason by allegedly not supporting the party candidate, Varupula Satyaprabha, in the election. They also alleged that he had unnecessarily spent money for YSRCP MLA and MP candidates. TDP leaders claimed that he had done nothing but to ensure that the villagers didn’t vote for Satyaprabha. They demanded suspension and withdrawal of all the positions he held in the party.
Party leadership is compelling him to take immediate action against Murali Raju for eroding the prospects of the party and coalition candidates. TDP Members Have Already Thrown Their Irate Lenin Against Him In the wake of the allegations, the members have already vented their ire on him. However, recent development suggests that he had left TDP yet again and joined YSR Congress Party.
