In a major development, police have picked up Raghava Reddy, personal assistant to YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP YS Avinash Reddy from Pulivendula earlier today. The arrest has brought massive attention and made the atmosphere pretty tense in the region.
Raghava Reddy has been reportedly connected to a scandalous incident with YSRCP leader and social media coordinator Varra Ravindra Reddy. The police had served notices on Raghava Reddy so far in the investigation of the case. Citing this as a defense, he approached the High Court claiming anticipatory bail; however, it rejected his petition, paving the way for his arrest.
Pulivendula police arrested Raghava Reddy after the High Court delivered its verdict. He was then sent to Kadapa RIMS Hospital for mandatory medical checkup and later shifted to Kadapa Central Jail. According to reliable sources, he will soon be produced before a magistrate in connection with the judicial process.
This arrest is related to the charges given against Varra Ravindra Reddy. He is accused of making many social media postings that reportedly targeted political leadership, including the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, and former Jana Sena Party president, Pawan Kalyan. The police, earlier, also arrested two social media activists for the same, and presented before a magistrate after detaining those two, Subba Reddy and Uday.
Reports have surfaced claiming that Varra Ravindra Reddy faced pressure from the police to admit to posting content targeting key figures, including YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother, YS Vijayamma; his sister and APCC president, YS Sharmila; and Dr. YS Sunitha.
The arrest of Raghava Reddy is expected to intensify political discussions and public scrutiny in the state, with both supporters and critics closely monitoring the developments.
