MLC Kavitha state-wide call For `Rail Roko’ on July 17 Demanding BC Reservations

Telangana Jagruti President and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has called for a state-wide rail roko program on July 17 for BC reservations. She said that she will participate in the rail roko by bringing together the leaders of all BC associations.

Speaking at a BC round table meeting, organized in Medak district under the auspices of Telangana Jagruti and UPF, she said that she will pressure the Center to pass the bill on BC reservations. “We will show the Delhi rulers what the manhood of Telangana BCs is. There will be a rail roko to impress upon the Delhi administration. We will not allow elections to be held without providing 42 percent reservation”, she asserted.

She alleged that Congress is conspiring not to provide 42 reservations and urged BC students and women to come together in this movement on a large scale. Stating that Telangana Jagruti is fighting for 42 percent reservation for BCs, she claimed that the government has introduced three BC bills in the assembly under pressure from Telangana Jagruti and UPF.

She deplored that there are many castes among BCs who are not ward members or sarpanches and there are many castes who have not crossed the threshold of the assembly. In Particular, she said that the condition of BC women in political opportunities is even worse. She demanded that there should be a sub-quota for BCs in women’s reservation.

“This is not a political platform, but a platform for human rights and social rights. If rights are being demanded for 56 percent of the population in the society, aren’t they human rights? Now is the time to speak. So everyone should fight for rights together”, she said.

Kavitha lamented that the Congress government wrung its hands by sending the bill to Delhi. She wondered that why Medak BJP MP Raghunandan Rao has not spoken about the BC Bill for a single day? She said that everyone should question Raghunandan Rao as to why the BJP government at the Center is not passing the BC Bill.

She demanded that the Congress government should announce the caste census details gram panchayat-wise. Alleging that some people in Medak tried to threaten BC leaders by not allowing them to attend the round table meeting, she said that it is understandable that they are afraid because of this.
