Minister Uttam Criticizes Past Failures, Confirms Tummidihatti Barrage Plans

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Water Resources Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy conducted a site visit to Mulugu district, where they inspected the Devadula Pump House and reviewed the progress of the irrigation project. Deputy CM Bhatti emphasized that the Devadula project is a key priority for the state government, aiming to provide irrigation to approximately six lakh acres. He further stated that ₹67 crore is required for land acquisition, with pending bills expected to be sanctioned soon.

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated the government’s commitment to completing the Devadula project and assured compensation for flood-affected areas in neighboring Chhattisgarh. He urged district collectors to expedite land acquisition processes to ensure timely completion.

Addressing the Kaleshwaram Commission report, Minister Uttam criticized the previous administrations for corruption and inefficiency, which he said led to project failures. He clarified that the commission’s findings were non-political and highlighted that the NDA had explicitly instructed against storing water in three barrages. The minister confirmed plans to complete the project by constructing the Tummidihatti barrage.
