Minister Seethakka Faced A wave of protests

Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr. Anasuya Seethakka faced a wave of protests. On Wednesday, locals stopped her from inaugurating a solid waste management (SWM) machine at a dumping yard in Peerzadiguda, Medchal district.

They questioned whether they would start another machine here if they have been demanding the removal of the dumping yard for a long time. They expressed their concern that they and their children were falling ill due to the dumping yard. Local BJP leaders also joined the protest in support of them.

The minister spoke to the women as they protested in large numbers. She said that she would take the dumping yard issue to the attention of the district collector. However, when the protesters did not calm down, the Medipally police dispersed them and sent them away.

Amidst the protests by the locals, Minister Seethakka inaugurated the SWM machine set up by ITC. Speaking on the occasion, she said that the technology to recycle and reuse solid waste collected from residential areas should be utilized in advanced methods. Former Minister Mallareddy, local Mayor Amar Singh, TPCC Vice President Vajresh Yadav and former MLA Malipeddi Sudheer Reddy participated in the program.

Meanwhile, Minister Dr Seethakka alleged that the BRS leaders were responsible for the chaos, agitations and tensions that occurred here and there in the gram sabhas held across the state  and this happened only in the villages where BRS was dominant.

She alleged that in the past, the beneficiaries were selected by sitting in farmhouses and MLAs’ houses. She expressed anger that BRS was deliberately playing a fool’s game when they were identifying the beneficiaries democratically.

Speaking at a media briefing at the Secretariat, the minister said that people are happy that Gram Sabhas are being held after ten years and that the deserving people are being identified in the Gram Sabhas themselves. He recalled that earlier schemes were only given to those who are mentioned by the MLAs.

But, now she said that in his people’s government, the selection of beneficiaries will be done in the Gram Sabhas in the presence of the people. She was angry that TRS is deliberately playing a fool’s game when it comes to identifying beneficiaries democratically.
