Minister Satyakumar Yadav Refutes Jagan’s Accusation of Medical colleges privatization

Medical and Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has strongly objected to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s misinformation on the construction of medical colleges under the PPP model, saying that the coalition government is privatizing medical education. He clarified that it was only because of Jagan’s attitude that some new government medical colleges had to be taken up under the PPP model.

He alleged that former Chief Minister Jagan Reddy held a press conference and continued his usual toxic campaign as part of a conspiracy to divert people’s attention from the coalition government’s ‘Super Six-Super Hit’ meeting being held in Anantapur on Wednesday.

Satyakumar Yadav alleged that Jagan Reddy, who spent only Rs. 1450 crore in the four years of his rule, had to spend the remaining Rs. 7000 crore in the first year of the coalition government that came to power in June 2024, which was a policy that was different from others.

The Minister lamented Jagan Reddy’s failure to explain the reasons for reducing the admissions to only 50 in Paderu College in 2024-25, as the National Medical Council (NMC) had allowed 150 admissions in each of the 5 colleges that had MBBS admissions in the first phase in 2023-24.

Explaining that the main reason for the NMC not allowing admissions as per the full proposals was the failure to provide the necessary infrastructure as per the standards in 2023-24, the Minister asked who was responsible for this? Stating that the state lost 100 MBBS admissions in a single college in 2024-25 due to the mismanagement of the former Chief Minister, he alleged that Jagan Reddy was completely guilty in this matter.

The minister lamented that former Chief Minister Jagan Reddy had shown extreme discrimination in the construction of Pulivendula, Markapuram, Madanapalle and Adoni colleges, which were to be admitted in 2024-25. Jagan Reddy, who spent 84 percent of the estimated cost for the construction of Pulivendula, spent only 15 to 17 percent on the remaining colleges, and demanded that Jagan Reddy explain why he had shown such discrimination against the remaining 3 colleges?
