AP Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu expressed his concern that the situation in the Godavari Delta, which is supposed to provide irrigation water to 10 lakh acres of land, is dangerous, and assured that he would immediately take up modernization work. He lamented the anarchic rule of Jaganmohan Reddy for the past five years for such a miserable situation.
Speaking on the occasion of the oath-taking of Kondeti Shiva, Chairman of the West Godavari District Tanuku Agricultural Market Committee, and the ruling class, Ramanaidu said that he has explained the situation in the Godavari Delta to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has immense admiration and respect for the people of Godavari districts.
He described the posts of the Agricultural Market Committee as a great privilege to serve the food givers and mentioned how the food givers were supported and what good they did during the 2014-19 Telugu Desam regime. Ramanaidu explained the benefits of agricultural loans, input subsidies, insurance, mechanization and other farmer-friendly items along with statistics.
At the same time, he gave an example of how the Jagan government, which came to power in 2019, weakened the agricultural sector, especially how it corrupted the irrigation sector. Stating that insurance gives great guarantee for farmers, the minister recalled that Chandrababu Naidu, who was in the opposition at the time questioned the government which forget to build such insurance.
Lamenting that forgetting insurance means forgetting the farmer, he said that the then TDP government stood by the breadwinners with the goals of providing soil health cards, testing soil quality, assessing nutritional values, increasing yields and reducing investment in a way that is unknown in history. However, he deplored that Jagan came to power and trampled the breadwinners to the bottom.
Minister Ramanaidu said that he had witnessed the plight of farmers in Godavari districts who were forced to sell their paddy at the mills and the hell they had to endure. At the same time, Ramanaidu criticized the person who served as the Civil Supplies Minister of Tanuku for not cooperating with the farmers and focusing on other activities, thereby doing injustice to the food grains.
