Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has made it clear that 20 lakh Indiramma houses will be built in the state in the next three and a half years, otherwise they will not ask for votes in the next elections. He attended the distribution of sanction documents to 3,500 Indiramma house beneficiaries selected across the constituency organized by local MLA Vemula Veeresham at the Nakrekal Mini Stadium in Nalgonda district as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he asked that BRS leaders are wearing flexis saying Rappa Rappa, what is this a sign of? He questioned what they want to do to the Telangana state, which is peaceful. He warned that if anyone disturbs peace and security, the people will teach them a lesson.
Minister Ponguleti said that the goal of the Indiramma Rajyam and the Congress government is to fulfill the aspirations of the poor, and the Chief Minister and his associates are working together to make a plan and move forward towards that. He said that the previous government started 93,000 houses in the past ten years, but completed only 66,000, and left 30,000 as rubble.
He criticized that except for advertisements and publicity, it did nothing when elections came. He said that as part of the Indiramma Houses project, which has been ambitiously implemented since the Indiramma government came to power, 4.5 lakh houses are being constructed across the state in the first phase, and 3,500 houses have been sanctioned for each constituency.
He said that in the selection of Indiramma Houses, deserving poor people are being selected irrespective of caste, religion and politics. He said that the state government is working towards fulfilling the dream of a house for the poor, no matter how many financial difficulties they face.
Ponguleti lamented that the previous government has turned a rich state into a debt-ridden state. He deplored that his government is paying Rs 6,500 crore interest per month, including penal interest, towards the Rs 8.19 lakh crore loans taken during BRS regime.
However, he assured that the six guarantees given before the Congress came to power are being implemented without any reduction. He said that 8.60 lakh applications were received in the revenue conferences held across the state, and he was working with the aim of resolving the fair ones out of these by August 15 and providing freedom to the farmers.
