Minister for Municipal Administration Dr. P. Narayana has said that the construction work of the capital Amaravati is gaining momentum. He explained that 3,000 workers and 500 machines are already working for this. He said that about 15,000 people will participate in the daily work from the end of April.
On this occasion, Minister Narayana announced that the construction of the capital will be completed in three years. He said that local leaders including MLAs are demanding the establishment of a sports city in the Mylavaram constituency of NTR district.
On this occasion, he reminded that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also said that there should be a sports city to organize international level sports. He said that 2,000 acres of land are required for this.
He said that a committee is being formed on the feasibility of establishing a sports city in Krishna Lanka lands. For this, Minister Narayana said that a committee will be formed with officials of the Water Resources Department, the Collector and other high officials.
He said that this committee will have to submit a report within a month. Minister Narayana revealed that they will move forward based on the report of the committee. However, MLAs Vasantha Krishna Prasad and Bonda Uma are requesting the government to set up a sports city on the banks of the Krishna river in NTR district.
These MLAs requested Minister Narayana to inspect the Krishna Lanka lands adjacent to Ibrahimpatnam. In this context, as per their request, Minister Narayana inspected the Lanka lands in Peda Lanka and China Lanka in NTR and Guntur districts along with District Collector Lakshmisha and other officials.
Minister Narayana, MLAs Vasantha Krishna Prasad and Bonda Uma and other officials toured the area by walking three kilometers on foot in Lanka lands. Later, Minister Narayana said that the government’s goal is to organize not only domestic but also international competitions here.
He believed that if a large-scale sports city was built on the banks of the Krishna river, the state would gain good recognition in terms of sports. He said that the government is working in a planned manner to bring a new trend in sports and infrastructure. He clarified that if the efforts to turn the Krishna coast into a sports map are to be realized, public support is also a must.
