Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar held a meeting today with cooking oil importers at the Civil Supplies Bhavan in Vijayawada. During the meeting, Manohar mentioned that the coalition government led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu had provided significant relief to the public. He announced that the government had decided to offer cooking oil at lower prices to protect people from rising costs.
As part of this initiative, palm oil is being made available to the public at Rs. 110 per liter, and sunflower oil at Rs. 124 per liter, Manohar explained. He expressed confidence that subsidized cooking oil would gain more popularity among the people. The meeting was organized to ensure a smooth supply chain from importers, addressing any issues and boosting the supply.
With rumors circulating about potential price hikes in cooking oils due to the central government increasing import duties, the state government’s primary goal in conducting the meeting was to alleviate the burden on the common people. The importers were urged to increase supply while ensuring timely distribution.
Minister Confronts Pigeon Pea Suppliers
Minister Nadendla also held a meeting with pigeon pea suppliers, expressing dissatisfaction over their lack of cooperation in implementing the government’s decision to purchase pigeon peas at market prices and supply them at subsidized rates to the poor.
He insisted that suppliers must deliver the full quantity of pigeon peas as specified in the tender and warned of strict action if quality standards were not met. Manohar emphasized that the coalition government is bearing the loss to provide subsidized pigeon peas for the benefit of the public and urged all stakeholders to cooperate. He dismissed the excuses provided by suppliers regarding the delay in pigeon pea supply.
