The slogan of ‘Hydra Hatao.. Ghar Bachao’ echoed in the old city. MIM MLAs, corporators and leaders staged large-scale protests in Bahadurpura and Kishanbagh on Monday against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and HYDRA.
Revanth Reddy’s government seems to be backing down on the demolitions after ire from the High Court, large scale protests by victims and a section of Congress leaders are also opposing openly.
On this occasion, Bahadurpura MIM MLA Mohammad Mubeen said, “Do you dare bulldozers to enter the old town?” They expressed their indignation saying that if HYDRA enters the old city, they will show them. They challenged that they will stand in front of the bulldozers if the government stubbornly tries to demolish the houses.
He assured that no one needs to be afraid and criticized the Revanth Sarkar for messing with the lives of the poor without providing any compensation or alternative accommodation. He stated that he had discussed with the Collector of Hyderabad and suggested that according to the physical survey of Musi river in 2003, it should be taken over.
The corporators who agitated in support of Musi residents were detained by the police and taken to the Falaknuma police station, while the MIM leaders released them. Since the formation of HYDRA, the MIM party has been raising strong protest voices.
MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi reacted sharply to the campaign to demolish Fatima College in Old City. ‘If you want, rain bullets on me again.. attack with knives. But, don’t demolish the colleges”, he warned. BJP leaders are openly challenging the HYDRA officials who are ruthlessly demolishing the houses of the poor to set foot in the MIM dominated old town.
HYDRA staff are worried as people’s opposition has been raised due to lack of precautions while demolishing a common man’s house and hasty action. They also find fault over differences in the method of determining the FTL of ponds. They deplored that Courts are only questioning officials, but Chief Minister and other ministers, who had made provocative statements remaining comfortable in their offices.
A clear division between Congress party and Congress government is also seen on this issue. Leaders like former MLA Jagga Reddy and Addaki Dayakar have openly expressed their discontent over HYDRA. Jaggareddy warned that he will not allow HYDRA to Sangareddy and Dayakar advised Adnaki not to demolish the houses of the poor in haste.
TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud also reportedly has expressed his anger over the HYDRA demolitions in internal discussions and expressed concern that the actions of HYDRA are sure to sink the party and the government.
