A political storm is brewing over the Congress party’s state affairs in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan conducting reviews at the Secretariat. Many are expressing astonishment as to the capacity in which she is conducting reviews and meetings? They wonder is she Congress In-charge or Shadow CM?
Ironically, while Meenakshi Natarajan, who should be confined to Gandhi Bhavan, is conducting reviews at the Secretariat as the Shadow CM, the actual CM Revanth Reddy is conducting reviews at the Command Control Centre. It is learnt that the Congress high command is expressing extreme impatience over the Revanth Reddy affair in the backdrop of the Kancha Gachibowli land dispute.
The high command has reportedly received complaints that the Congress party is acting in such a manner to spoil the good relations it has with the faculty and students of central universities across the country. There is a campaign going on in the Congress ranks that Meenakshi Natarajan has been sent to Hyderabad as part of corrective measures.
Natarajan, who arrived in Hyderabad on Saturday, stepped directly into the state secretariat. Since then, she has been holding meetings with ministers, bureaucrats and officials in a row, like a shadow CM. The authorities are expressing astonishment at her for receiving petitions from students and public organizations as a state government spokesperson and her assurance of justice.
It is noteworthy that Revanth Reddy, who has gone to Delhi 41 times for meetings and consultations after becoming CM, did not hold reviews with officials in the secretariat even half of them, i.e. at least 20 times. The police, who did not allow students to come out of the UoH campus rooms, are facing criticism for arranging heavy security for Meenakshi and taking her to the university with government honors.
Congress sources are asking themselves that will Meenakshi be confined her act towards University of Hyderabad lands row? Or will she delve into all official matters? Party sources say that ministers are worried that the party in-charge coming to the secretariat and conducting an official review is sending wrong signals to the public.
With Meenakshi Natarajan tidying up the work as the shadow CM, the discussion about what will happen in the coming days has intensified both in the party and the government.
