Telangana government is taking tremendous efforts to enhance employment and attract foreign investments. In a big breakthrough, the state has secured a tie-up with multinational fast food giant McDonald’s, which will establish its Global India Office in Hyderabad and generate 2,000 jobs.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently met McDonald’s Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski and other company officials at the state assembly to discuss investment proposals. After deliberations, a deal was inked, officially making Telangana McDonald’s strategic hub in India.
In his tone of enthusiasm, CM Revanth Reddy mentioned, “McDonald’s had various choices, but they picked Telangana for their Global India Office. The state government is willing to provide full support to assist their expansion. We also want the company to partner with Young India Skills University to hire and train experts and make them employable not only in Hyderabad but also in McDonald’s worldwide network.”
The CM also encouraged McDonald’s to procure agri-products directly from local farmers, providing economic gains to the agricultural community as well as augmenting Telangana’s agrarian economy.
McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski has pointed out Hyderabad’s talented population, world-class infrastructure, and excellent quality of life as chief drivers of the decision. According to him, Hyderabad surpassed competing cities like Bengaluru in both talent pool and business-friendly ecosystem.
Currently, McDonald’s has 38 restaurants in Telangana and is planning to grow by opening 3 to 4 new stores every year. Global India Office will not only create direct jobs but also indirect job opportunities, which will further enhance the state’s economic growth.
The highest level of talks featured Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Industries Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and CM’s Special Secretary Ajit Reddy, who had also played an important role in clinching the deal.
The ruling is also a milestone in Telangana’s history in establishing itself as one of the top investment hubs for global corporations.
