‘Liquor King’ Vasudeva Reddy In AP CID custody?

D Vasudeva Reddy, MD of the State Beverages Corporation during the previous regime and who played a key role in the manufacture and sale of liquor during the YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s government in AP is believed to be under AP CID custody.

Vasudeva Reddy, who played a key role in the liquor business during the previous government, was removed by the Election Commission on complaints that he was acting in favor of the YSRCP during the elections. Later, when the coalition government came to power, cases of destruction of evidence were filed against him.

With this, he went into hiding. Recently, family members are alleging that the AP CID police forcibly took away Vasudeva Reddy in Hyderabad. They are claiming that he was taken into custody three days ago on the outskirts of Hyderabad. They are suspecting that IPS Ghattamaneni Srinivas and some other CID officials took him away.

His family members are expressing fear that the CID officials are pressuring him to reveal the names of key people in the previous government. Vasudeva Reddy’s family says that they will approach the High Court and the National Human Rights Commission for justice.

Meanwhile, he has already approached the High Court after the police issued lookout notices against Vasudeva Reddy. A quash petition has been filed against the case registered against him. At this time, his detention by the CID has become a topic of discussion.

Vasudeva Reddy, a 2008 batch Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, was previously appointed as the MD of the crucial AP Beverages Corporation by the YSRCP government. In addition to bringing private liquor shops under the government’s control, it was during his tenure that he brought new brands in liquor.

Since then, the coalition parties have been targeting him. After the recent coalition government came to power, a case was registered on allegations that the then-government destroyed the documents, and a quashing petition was subsequently filed in his court.
