Renowned Tamil director Lingusamy His previous directorial outing, The Warrior starring Ram Pothineni, did not click. But Lingusamy now has ambitious plans for a Mahabharata project—a two-part extravaganza based on the epic, with the latest technology and a sweeping cinematic canvas.
Lingusamy’s Mahabharata will focus on two of the most highly respected warriors of Indian mythology—Arjuna and Abhimanyu. With a lengthy pre-production period in progress, the project demands careful planning and is hence not likely to start rolling anytime in the near future.
While there is still a wait for Mahabharata, buzz in the circles indicates that Lingusamy might be looking at a Telugu film for his next close project. Word has it that Roshan, Srikanth’s son, is also being thought of to play the lead role in this one.
Roshan, who debuted with Pelli SandaD, has been actively working on his next sports drama, Champion, which is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. The film, requiring grueling physical change, will be released later this year.
Although a formal confirmation is yet to be made, insiders suggest that Lingusamy’s Telugu project will be wrapped up within a short span of time so that he could easily shift focus back to his Mahabharata dream project.
With Lingusamy set for a grand comeback and Roshan planning to make his mark, this possible coming together has stirred interest. Is this project set to fly? Keep watching the space for further developments on the director’s next move!
