KTR Urges Telangana Govt to Prioritize Scooters for Girls Over Beauty Pageants

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao has called on the Telangana government to cancel upcoming beauty pageants and instead fulfill its election promise of providing scooters to girls. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, he accused the Congress government of failing to implement its pre-election commitments.

KTR pointed out that while Congress had pledged to allocate 15% of the budget for education, only 7.5% was announced. He also criticized the delay in implementing Vidya Bharosa cards and fee waivers, despite promises that parents would not have to bear educational expenses. Additionally, he alleged that students in Gurukul schools were suffering due to food poisoning, reflecting mismanagement in the sector.

Highlighting pending financial commitments, KTR stated that the BRS government had cleared fee reimbursements and demanded the immediate release of the remaining ₹8,000 crore. He argued that instead of funding beauty pageants, the government should allocate ₹500 crore toward providing scooters to girl students, benefiting a significant number of recipients.

He also questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s promise of two lakh government jobs, stating that only 11,000 positions had been filled. KTR alleged that the Congress government was merely issuing appointment letters for recruitments made during the BRS tenure and criticized the administration for not increasing Group-2 job postings as promised.
