BRS Working President KT Rama Rao alleged that the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy government has failed miserably in managing irrigation and drinking water projects, and that this incompetence is causing alarm bells to ring for Jurala yesterday and Manjeera today.
He recalled that on March 22, a team of experts from the State Dam Safety Organization (SDSO) inspected the Manjeera barrage and submitted a report to the government on its safety. He tweeted to this effect on his X account and said that the government’s complete neglect of the report was an unforgivable crime.
He criticized that just as the Medigadda barrage pillars cracked due to unexpected flood flow, the flood pressure on the Manjeera barrage also increased and the pillars cracked, the afron was washed away, and the spillway was damaged, but the Chief Minister did not give up his slumber even though the SDSO report clearly warned that it was outrageous.
KTR lashed out, saying that the failure to undertake repairs at Medigadda despite the NDSA report and now ignoring Manjira despite the SDSO’s warning are evidence of the Congress government’s laziness and mischievous attitude.
“The Congress and BJP leaders who made a fuss about the cracks in the two pillars of the Medigadda barrage and now not responding at all to the cracks in the Manjira pillars is evidence of their despicable politics,” he said.
He said that it is not right to ignore projects built by previous governments without making even minor repairs. KTR said that experts are warning that if the flood level increases from upstream into Manjira in the coming days, the barrage is likely to be in further danger.
In this context, he demanded that the government put aside petty politics and immediately undertake repairs at Medigadda and Manjira barrages. KTR warned that history will not forgive CM Revanth Reddy and the Congress government if they waste time on political gains and undermine drinking water and irrigation projects. Finally, he concluded his statement by saying ‘Jai Telangana’.
